Energieavantgarde Anhalt wants to implement the Regional Action Plan in Dessau-Roßlau

01. März 2021

Energieavantgarde Anhalt (EAA) is one of the eight partners of the INTENSIFY project, a European project that aims to reduce Carbon Emission. Climate change is a reality and Carbon emissions are one of the main causes of pollution and environmental destruction. Energieavantgarde Anhalt wants to contribute to reducing this impact that damages the health and well-being of all and wants to start in Dessau-Roßlau and in Ferropolis.

The different project partners, siting in different European countries, have different areas of activity that together contribute to achieving the common goal.

EAA is working to provide all the people in Dessau-Roßlau with more sustainable mobility. The truth is that the city has ideal characteristics for the use of public and shared transport, and also for cycling, which contributes very positively not only to the reduction of carbon emissions, but also to the improvement of the quality of life of inhabitants, employees, and visitors. There are several good examples of cities that have already adopted similar measures, and which are an inspiration to move forward with these actions towards the final goal.

This work is initiated by EAA but embraces the city of Dessau-Roßlau. The benefits are to everyone’s interest and the involvement of the community and partners who believe in the importance of implementing these measures is a great asset for the success of the initiative.

Another good practice is planned for the Ferropolis tourism and festival location. Lignite was mined there until 1991, and an important European site of industrial culture has now emerged between five old lignite excavators. Part of the considerable energy consumption is already generated on site from solar energy. Now, with the help of the European partners, a concept for the climate-neutral operation of the event location is to be developed.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several events were cancelled or postponed. However, the will to achieve this goal remains the motivation for everyone working on and for this project.

EAA wants that Dessau-Roßlau and Ferropolis are two of the good examples for changes and habits that contribute to climate protection, such as those that serve as inspiration today and that the people benefit from it and live better because of it.

The INTENSIFY project is part-funded by Interreg Europe through the European Regional Development Fund.
